From store or property locators to mobile applications, asset tracking and fleet management, the Whereis® API can help you build your ultimate mapping solution.
With the Whereis® API you can:
- Create maps centred on any location in Australia
- Access aerial and satellite imagery across Australia (with or without street labels)
- Use standard Whereis® map navigation tools (zoom and panning) or create your own map
- Add map markers to the map
- Create route maps and turn-by-turn directions between addresses
- Generate lists of potential destinations, ranked in order of travel distance from the nominated street address
- Perform geo-coding (i.e. convert a street address to latitude and longitude coordinates)
- Perform reverse geo-coding
- Search thousands of UBD® points of interest (POI) nationwide
In turn, your customers can:
- Locate your nearest store (could be as simple as entering a suburb or postcode)
- Get turn-by-turn directions to your nearest store by entering their street address
- Interact with your maps according to their needs using zoom and panning tools
Technical Information
The Whereis® API can be integrated as a component into your existing or new application. Most developers access the Whereis® API from their server side web-based application using our JavaScript API. You can also put the Whereis® API functionality into a standalone application via our SOAP interface as long as it has network access (so it can reach the geospatial platform within the Sensis network).
